Stakeholder Breakfast
On Wednesday 4th February in Settle Victoria Hall the Settle Carlisle Railway held a fabulous stakeholder breakfast to launch the 150th Anniversary year for Passenger Travel on the line. The event was attended by 51 people from a wide range of businesses, local authorities, transport companies and supporter organisations who came together to both celebrate and look ahead.
The focus of the event was on shaping the strategic direction with relation to economy, transport and tourism for the future of the line. Looking to build new partnerships to develop commercial opportunities and link the railway into key decision makers and business communities up and down the line.
The key speakers at the event were Alex Hornby – Northern Trains, Tony Watson – Visit North Yorkshire and Pete, Bryan and Allison representing the railway.
The event was a great success and everybody who attended commented that it had really opened their eyes to the possibilities of working with the railway and doing more in partnership. Several businesses expressed an interest in corporate membership, a number of key individuals have requested formal meetings with the Commercial Manager to explore what opportunities can be taken forward and many people said they would like to see something similar become an annual event not just for the celebratory year so watch this space!
