This tastefully renovated grade 2 listed property is conveniently located at the start of the Yorkshire 3 peaks walk. It offers excellent self-catering accommodation for 1 or 2 guests for between 2 and 14 nights in the beautiful Ribblesdale Valley between the 3 peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent.
The property is open plan with a large living/dining room and kitchen area with a bathroom off. There are stairs to a mezzanine level with a super king zip and link pocket sprung bed which can be split to form two singles.
We regret that Horton is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties or for any pets.
The house is located at Horton-in-Ribblesdale station, a great location to start the 3 peaks walk. The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District are in easy reach.
The best way to arrive is by rail using the Leeds-Skipton-Settle-Kirkby Stephen-Appleby-Carlisle train service. It can also be easily reached by car via junction 36 of the M6 or via Skipton.
Settle is the nearest town, 5 miles away, a beautiful old market town with a range of shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets.
The local area is rich in landscapes, settlements, heritage and attractions.
Horton is a small village with 2 pubs. For active visitors, there are walks or bike routes in every direction with the 3 peaks challenge being the most popular. There are many caves and waterfalls nearby including the secluded and magical Catrigg force.
In additon to the local attractions, you have fantastic train access to Carlisle and all the way to Leeds, featuring great villages, towns and stations along the way, direct from your door. From a railway perspective there are gems in every direction, the magnificent Ribblehead Viaduct, Blea Moor tunnel, and the Blea Moor signal box and the Stainmore Railway Company at Kirkby Stephen East station.
The house and garden are adjacent to the station platform . Horton is a quiet station, but on dates when steam trains pass it can be busy. The last passenger train is around 9pm. A few freight trains do pass through day and night time, mostly during weekdays but rarely between 9pm and 5am.
